After returning home, Alton dedicated his life to standing against Jim Crow and fighting for racial equality...Publisher Autographed by Mr. A. Yates., dated March 16, 2022. He was also involved with the NAACP Youth Council along with Rodney Hurst and Marjorie Meeks in Ax Handle Saturday, August 27, 1960 where a sit-in at a lunch counter was held. They were attacked by mob of white men on that day. The Florida Times Union failed to cover the protests or the attack. Includes time-line of Mr. Yates life and a selected sources list.
