Scope and Content

The Florida Union newspaper was first published in 1864 as a weekly newspaper, during the American Civil War. It was a Northern and Republican paper, because Jacksonville was occupied by the Union Army. Between 1873 and 1876, it became a daily publication, the Daily Florida Union, and later converted from afternoon to morning publication. It was purchased by the Florida Daily Times in 1883 and became the Florida Times-Union. Library holdings: March 3, 1866 and April 6, 1877 issues. Topics of interest include:
