Springfield really glows on you, 31st annual holiday home tour December 8th & 9th 2017, pm - 9 pm Contents: 156 West 7th Street, The Houston House, ca. 1911 (Believe completed in 1911 by Edward Augustus Houston (born 1866-died 1925) came to Jacksonville from Tallahassee in 1910. He worked as a bookkeeper for Owen P. Woodcock,a Jacksonville contractor, and it is likely that Woodcock built the Houstoun home. The family lived there until about 1919. Current owners are Kimberly Waterhouse & Tony Atkins) -- Springfield's Main Street arises (Akra Brothers Dept. Store at 1938 Main Street (now 1738) with Louis Akra standing in front of the car; at this spot from 1918 until 1933 when they opened their new store at 1935 (1735) Main Street. -- 1249 North Main Street (new house resembles the 1904 house that stood there previously; Howard & Hesper Ransom were 1st residents of house that had stood at that location. He worked as a machinist. Sometime before 1895, he was appointed a postal clerk with the U.S. Postal Service's Railway Mail Service) -- 1730 Walnut Street, The Clough House, ca. 1907 (Formerly called 1932 Walnut Street. The first occupants were Wayne Greenleaf Clough, Jr and his wife, Nellie.) -- 1950 Redell Street formerly 2150 Dancy Terrace, the Conken Bungalow, ca. 1911. -- Story of the Mary Dillon Fountain, Klutho Park with images.
