Summary: Mule Skinner Blues was filmed from 1997-2000 in a trailer park in Mayport, outside of Jacksonville. Stephen Earnhart was down there, producing a music video for up-and-comer Jim White, when he met local character Beanie Andrew. Andrew, a retired shrimper and all-around entertainer and huckster, nagged Earnhart into coming back to Jacksonville to make a movie. Earnhart, 35, is a former director of production for Miramax. He gave Andrew a video camera to shoot locations with, and Andrew turned the camera on his friends, his neighbors, weird locations, and himself, eventually talking Earnhart into helping Andrew make his own horror movie. Much of what is in Mule Skinner has been staged, re-created or otherwise manipulated by the filmmakers. Earnhart talked Ford, a classmate from New York University film school, into producing it...Orlandosentinel.com (online), June 14, 2001.
