folder This is a file is primarily newspaper clippings about William G. Bankhead who served approximately 20 years in the Florida Legislature and championed the state's child welfare and youth corrections efforts for many years. In 1994 he sponsored a bill to move the juvenile justice program out of the troubled Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services. Later, in 1999 Gov. Jeb Bush appointed Bankhead to head the agency as part of his administration. He also was a long-time employee at CSX. The file also includes the obituary of Mr. Bankhead's mother, Enid Cash Bankhead. It is available at JHS Archives Library vertical files area. For in-library reference use only.
