Lectures, reports, and extracts from lectures. Tributes. Twenty-five engravings.
Chosen Chairman of the Board of Public Instruction of Duval County in 1876, elected County Superintendent in 1877 and served until 1884 when he was appointed State Supt. of Public Instruction. He served until 1893. Information on his addresses to Duval High School graduates are included. He revised the school law, adding many improvements and incorporated them into a bill whose passage he secured. Thus, giving Florida its first real public school system.
