Olin Mapes came to Jacksonville with his family in 1933, when Olin was age 11. Olin was a member of Boy Scout Troop 15 that meet at a church at Market and Duval Streets. Olin Mapes lived at 117 E. Church St.
According to Olin, the dock in the picture was on the North Bank. He remembers banana boats unloading at these docks. He also volunteered as an usher at The Florida Theatre during peak times of the year -- such as Christmas when Santa gave away gifts from the stage to children.Collection
