Written and illustrated by Clifton Johnson whose writings focused on rustic life and nature not town life. Chapters on Florida include chapter I titled "Spring on the Florida Coast" which briefly mentions Jacksonville with more detailed information on St. Augustine and chapter II titled "Way Down Upon the Suwannee River". This chapter focuses on life around the river noting that Mr. Tusher was the chief business man of the region who owned most of the land.
