Scope and Content

Annual Report 1965. Contains: George W. Varn's, President's Annual Report; Doris L. Whitmore's Director's Report; Isabel Mallett Schuster's Curator's Report; and Nancy S. Rumpel's Science Curator Report. The first three reports contain summaries of accomplishments and improvements but all of the writers express frustration. The housing for the museum is described by a visitor as "primitive" in one account. The budget, despite expanded programs and visitors, compares unfavorably with that of museums in Charlotte, NC, which has nearly the same population as Jacksonville.
