Jacksonville Fire Station No. 5 with Company posed in front of a fire trunk at 347 Riverside Avenue.
Growth in Brooklyn and Riverside warranted a municipal fire station, resulting in the construction of a modest wooden structure on this site in 1897. In 1910, this building was moved ot thre rear of the property and a brick building was constructed. The original station had two distinctive arched doorways on the facade, an ornate scrolled dormer adn a clay tile roof. These feature have since been altered.
In 1910, a news article boasted that the station could "accomodate two peices of apparatus, five horses and fourteen men."Collection
