Floridan Hotel, Adams StreetDescription
Floridian Hotel demolition. Built in 1911 as Hotel Burbridge on Clay and Forsyth Street, the hotel became the Floridan Hotel during WWII. In 1981, seventy years after it's construction, with the decline of downtown Jacksonville, the entire block of downtown (Forsyth, Adams, Clay and Pearl Streets) was demolished to make way for new construction. The hotel had seven stories and 131 units.
The area is now a parking garage with store fronts along the first floor. It sits directly across from the Duval County Courthouse.Collection
