Stanton by Grace Galvin, Tiffany Green, and Ronald Galvin.
The school emerged in the years following emancipation, when a group of African Americans from Jacksonville organized the Education Society and, in 1868, purchased the property on which the Old Stanton school now resides.
Stanton Senior High School no. 101 is referred to as "Old Stanton" on Ashley Street. In 1953, the Stanton Senior High School was transferred to its current location on 13th street and renamed New Stanton Senior High Schoo with Charles D. Brooks as principal. On Ashley Street, the Old Stanton building was changed into Stanton Vocational High School from 1954 through 1971. During the 1980-81 school year, the focus changed and became a magnet school for gifted students throughout the county. It was renamed Stanton College Prepatory School.
