This is a biography of Alfred Irénée DuPont that explores his life and accomplishments, both within the DuPont Company (i.e., black powder expert, mechanical genius, top executive), and outside of the DuPont Company (i.e., independent entrepreneur, politician, family man, philanthropist). Alfred I. DuPont had over 1,000 patents for inventions implemented to enhance the DuPont Company’s black powder operation. Moreover, according to Marquis James, Alfred I. DuPont was a talented musician who composed music and played piano, violin, base viol and flute; he also wrote poetry.
