"Through Green Glasses" is an essay by Pat Murphy, born in the north of Ireland, on his experiences and thoughts during his 30 years as a lobbyist in the legislature of Florida. He came to Tallahassee in 1889 from Jacksonville and was elected janitor of the Legislature. His friend Bill Norwood of Jax advised that he would get Pat a position if ever settled in Tallahassee. Pat met Frank Clark at Bartow, FL where Frank was practicing law and then ran for the legislature with the help of Pat who canvassed for him. From Duval County were Scott and Lewis, both black, and Shoemaker, a white Republican. These people were known by Mr. Murphy.
