Description

This is a white porcelain plate made by Dagoty-Honore in Paris, France, in 1817. The plate, part of set 2001.007.001-.003, is decorated with a red or cranberry-colored band around the rim, accented by border vignettes that represent strength, the arts, commerce, the sciences and agriculture. An American eagle design is in the center of plate. The eagle is carrying a red, white, and blue banner that reads, “E Pluribus Unum.” This plate was made for the Monroes while Monroe was President of the United States.
