This is a white porcelain compote made by Dagoty-Honore in Paris, France, in 1817. The plate, part of set 2001.007.001-.003, is decorated with a red or cranberry-colored band around the outsiderim, accented by border vignettes that represent strength, the arts, commerce, the sciences and agriculture. This compote was made for the Monroes while Monroe was President of the United States.
