Description

This sauceboat and sauceboat plate are among the presidential china group, 2001.025.001-.017. The white porcelain sauceboat and plate were used by the Monroes during the Monroe presidency. The sauceboat and plate are trimmed with gold and include a cursive gold "M" in a shield at top. Each is decorated with an eagle and shield surrounded by stars. The handle on the sauceboat terminates in a gilt eagle head. The set was likely made in France around 1817.
