These plates are among the presidential china group, 2001.025.001-.017. The white porcelain plates were used by the Monroes during the Monroe presidency. The plates are trimmed with gold and include a cursive gold "M" in a shield at top. The center of the bowl is decorated with an eagle and shield surrounded by stars. The set was likely made in France around 1817.Collection
