Charles Town Fall Festival on Main Street (Washington Street) looking east between 1918 and 1920.
On right is sign for Phillips & Moreland Hardware and Implements.
According to a Facebook commenter, the building on the left was formerly J. J. Newberry 5 and 10 cent store. The large brick building on the right side of the street with the diagonal entrance is the Trapnell Building. The trade sign (mortar and pestle) of a drug store can be seen on the building. The Brown & Hooff Drug Store occupied the Trapnell Building from 1893 until 1925 when the business was sold to Jerry White who changed the name of the business to Scott & White. In 1937 Scott & White moved to the Beverly Flats Building (currently, as of 10/2/17 the home of Abolitionist Ale Works). According to the Facebook commenter, the occasion of the photo is the "Harvest Festival" which was the precursor to the Jefferson County Fair. The Harvest Festival was held annually on Washington Street.Acquisition
