Description

Converted 1870 Springfield Trapdoor rifle. Two barrel bands. Ramrod is in place. Sling swivel on trigger guard and front barrel band. Stamped on lock plate "1863" U.S. SPRINGFIELD". Also stamped with spread-winged eagle with shield holding arrows and olive branches in its claws. Stamped on trapdoor behind rear sight "MODEL 1870 (proof mark) US". Some initials are carved into stock opposite lock. Initials "B T" carved in front of trigger guard.
