Fence-lined road leading into Charles Town, W. Va. According to the JCM historian, this photo could be of the stone wall along the Altona Farm on Route 51 approaching Charles Town looking east.
Hand-written inscription on the back reads, "The road lined on both sides with stone fences, leads into Charles Town, West Virginia. John Brown was hung in Charles Town in 1859. Many stone fences are seen in Pa, Maryland and Virginia." Mounted on white matboard.Acquisition
