Scope and Content

Ninety-two (92) receipts, deeds, indenture, and other documents with dates from 1790 - 1917; many of the documents deal with business activities of James N. Barringer, Duffields, West Virginia; family names represented in the documents are Alexander, Engle, Link, Melvin, Morgan, Shirley, Snyder, Wysong, and Yates, among others. The donor's great uncle obtained these papers around the late 1920s. They were in a saddle bag (English type).
