Description

Shirt worn by a guard at Shenandoah Downs racetrack (race track) in Charles Town. Short-sleeved dark blue shirt with a breast pocket on either side. Five black four-holed buttons and six buttonholes down the front of the shirt (one button missing). Each pocket with a flap that buttons with a four-hole black button to the upper part of the pocket. Black-buttoned epaulet on each shoulder. Above left pocket on inside is a loop, perhaps to hold a badge. Patch on left sleeve with blue background on which "Shenandoah Downs" is embroidered in gold thread and with gold thread embroidered around the edges of the patch. Patch is shaped like a 60-degree segment of a circle, with two straight sides from center (at bottom of patch) to an arc which forms the top of the patch.
