A leather-bound diary which chronicles the service of J. William Thompson during the Civil War (1864-1865) in the Signal Corps, USA, Department of Virginia and North Carolina. "Only an account of the things of importance to me, at the time recorded in the diary is transferred to this record," dated Indiana, Pennsylvania, 4 July 1927.
