18Description
Three components of a clock from the Jefferson County Court House: two wooden hands originally painted black and one iron support for the longer hand.
Both wooden hands have a rounded end piece. The rounded piece on the shorter hand has attached to it by five screws an iron circular piece to which is welded another iron piece to hold presumably a piece of the clock mechanism that would cause the hand to turn. Two screws in that piece would tighten onto the clock mechanism part. The rounded end of the longer hand has five holes and a piece missing that presumably would have had a sixth hole. The iron support piece has a circular end with six holes, five of which match the holes in the wooden piece. Welded to the circular piece is another iron piece that would hold presumably a part of the clock mechanism. Two screws could be used to tighten on to the clock mechanism. A rod also attaches to the iron piece on top of the circular piece. The rod is threaded and screws into the end piece. The longer hand has four additional small holes in a straight line along the middle length of the hand, perhaps as another point of attachment to the iron support rod by a missing piece.Acquisition
