Collection of 31 letters written in 1842 to Reverend William T. Leavell (1813 - 1899), Charles City Court House, Virginia. Also included are transcriptions and associated documentary information. Folders 1 and 2: 31 letters written primarily from family members to Leavell in 1842 Folder 3: Transcriptions of the 31 letters Folder 4 Inventory of letters/transcriptions, photocopied article about Beall Air, copy of a tablet in Zion Episcopal Church, and a photocopy of a hand-drawn map showing Leavell (also Levelle) family property. According to an excerpt from The Lower Shenandoah Valley during the Civil War by Edward H. Phillips, 1959, Ph.D. dissertation, W. T. Leavell resigned from his parish in Charles City, Virginia, after the John Brown Raid and came to Jefferson County to be with his daughters, who had been staying with their grandmother at Walnut Grove. His wife died in 1858.
