Collection of 849 documents related to the Lippitt family of Charles Town and empty but addressed and postmarked envelopes, calling cards, other paper materials, and stamps removed from canceled mail.
The donor is a descendant of the Lippitts and Craighills.
ARC288 contains the transcriptions of the Lippitt papers as well as Craighill family papers (although the museum does not own the originals of the Craighill papers). Lippitt transcriptions are numbered JCM1 to JCM848 and correspond to numbers L1 to L848 written on the original papers. Items L849 and L850 is not transcribed.
Box 1 contains items L1-L187, as well as a folder on genealogical information:
-There are six pockets of misc. items in the back of Box 1 that are not numbered beyond ARC123, and as such do not have matching transcriptions. These are mostly envelopes and stamps. One pocket has three letters and two receipts. One letter is written on a receipt from "Chas. S. Harris, dealer in Stoves, Copper and Tinware". The other two letters are from the same person and dated from December and November of 1869 and are coming from Charles Town.
