Christ Church, Blue Ridge
Handwritten enclosure reads: "Christ Church was in the Blue Ridge Mts. (Episcapal [sic]). It is no longer there. Thank you, Ray Parks."
Photograph appears in "A History and Record of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the Diocese of West Virginia" by George W. Peterkin (Charleston, W.Va.: The Tribune Company, Printers, 1902) at p. 305. According to this book, pp. 613-614, Christ Church was built in 1889. A Mrs. Boyd, mother of Vincent Boyd, "gave the land, and Mr. William D. Smith, Sr., of Smithfield, Wickliffe Parish, Va., gave the lumber," and several people assisted with sawing, carpentry, and painting, "so the chapel was built at a very small cost, in money ... with a considerable amount coming from Wickliffe Parish ...." The Wickliffe rector ministered to the Christ Church congregation.Acquisition
