Torn letter that has been taped back together. Begins "Dear Sir" and is dated Harpers Ferry - 3 Jan. 1825. Letter is signed Edward Wager. The back of the letter also includes a note addressed to Mr. James Beckham, as well as inscriptions for Mrs. Hannah M. Wager. The front of the folded letter reads: W. James Beckham Orange, Virginia 1827 1872.
An envelope with the letter reads: "Mr. James Wager Brown from his Mother Anna Lee Brown; This is a letter from my grandfather to my great-grandfather."
A note from the donor to the museum reads: "Anne Lee Wager Brown addressed this envelope to my uncle James Wager Brown. The letter is so fragile, I'll leave it to you to decipher. I hope you can piece it together enough to find it informational."Acquisition
