Upper photo: The Webb-Blessing House, on the south side of East North Street, is on land deeded to Patty Webb, a free African American woman, in 1830. The left portion of the house, built in 1829-1830, is one of the earliest stone structures built and owned by free African Americans in the antebellum period. John Frederick and Emily Blessing, who received the deed to the property after the Civil War, connected the two houses. ("The Webb-Blessing House." - Clio. N.p., 1 Dec. 2014. Web. 25 Feb. 2015)
