Handwritten letter from Edward Tiffin, Charles Town, to W.F. Ast, October 5, 1795, responding to Ast's September 23 letter. Tiffin indicates that the town is growing and expects builders will soon want to join the Society. The Society is the recently formed Mutual Assurance Society of Virginia, of which Mr. Ast was the principal agent.
