Scope and Content

Undated call by John Moray (Berkeley Springs, W. Va.), James Rumsey's biographer, to reintroduce a resolution for a gold medal to commemorate James Rumsey "giving the world the benefits of the steamboat." Resolution was introduced in the U.S. House Representatives by Mr. Underwood of Kentucky on February 9, 1839, but later reported out of a Senate Committee "that it do not pass"; thus causing no medal to be cast. Name of Senate Committee Chair has been crossed out in pen.
