Description

Small goldsmith's hammer made of wood with iron head. According to a note that was handwritten by Mary Milton Simmons and that was curled around the handle, the hammer was used by James William Milton to make rings when he was in France during World War I (see Media file) (note is in ARC60l, SR2/SU1/S4/Box 1/Folder 4). See also ARC60l, letter dated Nov 21, 1918 from James Milton to Mrs. John Milton where he mentioned making rings from French money (located in SR2/SU1/S4/Box 1/Folder 4).
