Two newspaper clippings with typed transcriptions which include text not evident on clippings.
1) Clipping is glued to page 461 from a book and is titled: "Communicated Harper's Ferry September 3, 1897" Second page of article is glued to the back. Text continues onto a clipping glued to page 463 from a book. Both are transcribed on three pages with title as above. Intent of the article is given by
"Editor Independent ...I desire to give [a description of] Harper's Ferry of today, in respect to its industries and people, as is brought about by great changes of latter days."
Topics addressed include:
Double track tunnel under Maryland Heights & rail lines elevated to avoid floods; Harper's Ferry as a summer resort and outing destination for many people, principally Washingtonians; hotels, cottages, Island Park, and Storer College.
