Description

White tile with picture of Jefferson County Court House in black. Printed in black below illustration: "R. JONES D. BENEDICT". Printed in black script: "Jefferson County Court House - 1836"; below that, printed in black: "CHARLES TOWN, WEST VIRGINIA". Incised on reverse: "Made in England" and "H & R Johnson Tiles Ltd". Illustration on tile was from a woodcut. Tile was one of a set of three, the other two illustrations were John Brown's Fort and Thomas Shepherd Mill. Jones and Benedict were art professors at Shepherd College.
