The space between these two extant buildings once held the Ripon Post Office.
Rippon was the first post office in Jefferson County to have its name changed without interruption of service. It originally opened as Newburg on October 12, 1852. The names of the post office and community were changed to Rippon on December 23, 1852. The post office was located in a number of different buildings over the years.
