Description

US Navy button. Flat top with insignia of eagle standing on a branch, beside a shield with a fouled anchor depicted on it. Sixteen stars arranged in a circle around front of button. On back of button is a shank. Between a ringed circle are words: TREBLE GILT. STAND COLOUR. From late colonial or early antebellum period, excavated in Jefferson County.
