Scope and Content

Thrift card issued to Mrs. N. S. J. Strider, 400 N. Mildred Street, Charles Town, with one stamp in the first block. These thrift cards and stamps were issued by the Treasury Department of the U. S. Government to raise money for World War I. Once you had affixed sixteen thrift stamps to the card, it was to be taken to an authorized agent and exchanged for a War Savings Certificate Stamp, for which you would be paid $5.00 on January 1, 1923.
