Wooden barrel washing machine, made by Brammer Manufacturing Co., Davenport, Iowa, with hand-operated agitator and Horse Shoe Brand clothes wringer. Likely from between the late 1800s to early 1900s.
Wooden barrel with three wooden legs. Three strips of metal are secured around circumference of barrel. Two metal handles located above the middle metal strip, across from one another. Bolted along bottom of barrel for support is a yardstick with the words: "The Store that Invites Comparison 882-4141." Stamped on underside of barrel is "BRAMMER MFG CO, DAVENPORT, IA."
Hand crank agitator with metal wheel and wooden handle. Connects to four wooden doweled legs inside barrel that are used for spinning. Hinged lid that opens to inside of barrel for putting clothes and water. Inside of the barrel is ridged.
Detachable wooden clothes wringer attaches to wooden barrel using metal clips that can be tightened. Rubber rollers are cracked. Writing on front of clothes wringer reads: 500, 10 X 1 3/4, Royal, [?] sells to [?].
Writing on back of clothes wringer reads: Horse Shoe Brand Clothes Wringer, Warranted 5 Years.Acquisition
