Strip-film photo-finish camera made by Jones Precision Photo-Finish, Inc. Five compartments at top of camera. Contains Kodak Film No. 10 Spool-35 mm film. Film runs through three compartments. One compartment has lens, reel with date October 10, 1959 on it, and two light bulbs. One compartment holds storage and contains two spare light bulbs, a screwdriver, wrench, wire, screw, and metal block. Front of camera has large lens. Back of camera has exposed wiring and copper plaque that reads: 011 PRECISION CAMERA CORP. SER. NO. 1010 MODEL (?) RATIO 300:1 CNTR 1000 PAT PENDING MADE IN U.S.A.
Used by Edwin A. Fitzpatrick, Jr., a well-known and prolific photographer in Jefferson County for many years, to take finish-line photographs of horse races at Wheeling Downs racetrack in Wheeling, W. Va., in the 1950s. Wheeling Downs was built in 1937 and featured horse racing until 1976. In 2002, it was renamed Wheeling Island.Acquisition
