Description

Shenandoah Furnace was an iron furnace built on the east side of the Shenandoah River along Furnace Run in 1839 by Perdue, Nichols and Co. The furnace produced pig iron which was shipped to Harpers Ferry to be carried to market via both the B&O Railroad and the C&O Canal. Iron production ceased when the furnace was destroyed sometime during the Civil War.
