Description

Wooden box with openings to hold receipt books, with metal handle. Books used by Marianna Johnson Smallwood at Johnson's Grocery in Kabletown in the 1950s to 1980s as a record of transactions with customers as well as a record of how much money a customer owed the store. Box may have been used by Charles D. Johnson, Marianna's father and donor's grandfather, who owned and operated the store from the late 1890s until the 1940s.
