Musicians playing Old Time music in driveway in Locust HillEntry/Object ID
IMG3907Description
Gathering of individuals with instruments to play Old Time music in a driveway in the Locust Hill neighborhood.
Summary from donor: "This is a regular gathering. We used to play in nearby venues such as the Harpers Ferry Barn and the Barns of Rose Hill in Berryville as well as in peoples's homes including several in Charles Town. The music is called Old Time. It pre-dates bluegrass and was centered on the fiddle. Old Time music was frequently played at dances. When the pandemic struck, the indoor venues shut down and we moved the jam sessions outdoors. Here we are in a driveway in the Locust Hill neighborhood on November 20, 2020. Masked and distanced, we all got our vaccinations as soon as they became available. By vaxing, distancing, and masking, we were able to keep playing music through the entire pandemic except during the cold winter months. None of us caught COVID and the music helped to temper the quarantine months."Acquisition
