Description

A collection of images of the ruins of outbuildings at Avon Bend in 2010, site of a home built by Logan Osburn, circa 1848, located off Avon Bend Road just before crossing the Bullskin Run heading southeast. Remaining is a square stone, two-story building built mid-nineteenth century with gable entry, a two room kitchen with a central chimney, and a pitched pyramidal roof (according to "Uncommon Vernacular" by John Allen, Jr.) Close to the kitchen are the ruins of another mid-nineteenth century building, a meat house, a cistern, and a pile of stones that may be what is left of the original house which was rebuilt in 1848 by Margaret Chew Osborn and Logan Osborn on Avon Bend Farm.
