Scope and Content

Black Leatherette covered photograph album, covers are tied with black string. Printed in gilt (faded) on front cover: "Photographs". Twenty-four black pages, seven having sepia-tone photographs pasted to them. There are a total of thirty-six photographs, but it appears that a photograph was cut from the album. Page 1 has five photos: #1 photo (upper left corner) is Strider's Department Store, it was on the NE corner of George and Liberty Streets, Charles Town. #3 photo (center) was the Palm Hotel, W. Washington St., Charles Town. #4 photo (upper right corner) is the Jefferson County Court House, NE corner of George and E. Washington Streets, Charles Town. #5 photo (lower right corner) was Miller's Pharmacy, c1910, it was next to the Hooff Building on E. Washington Street, Charles Town. Page 2 has five photos: #6 photo (upper left corner) was taken behind buildings on the north side of the 100 block of W. Washington St., Charles Town. #7 photo (lower left corner) was taken on north side of the 100 block of W. Washington St., Charles Town, near present day 114 W. Washington. #9 photo was taken behind buildings on north side of 100 block of W. Washington St., Charles Town, near present day 132 W. Washington St. Page 3 has four photos, all unidentified. Page 4 has five photos: #17 photo (center top row) is north side of 100 block of W. Washington St, Charles Town, behind 130 W. Washington. #18 photo (upper right corner) is Lillian Ott, photo taken in front of the Hub store, owned by Leon Sonneborn, who was a clothier in Charles Town from 1890-1920s. Page 5 has five photos, all unidentified except #22 photo (center top row) is Lillian Ott. Page 6 has five photos, all unidentified except #29 (upper right corner) is Lillian Ott. Page 7 has five photos: #30 photo (upper left corner) is Lillian Ott. #31 photo (lower left corner) is Lillian Ott on the right with two unidentified friends. #33 photo (upper right corner) is Lillian Ott on the left with two unidentified friends. #34 photo (lower right corner) was taken on the North side of the 100 block of W. Washington St., Charles Town, looking east. The building with the triple porch was the Palm Hotel. Page 8 has two photos: #35 is unidentified. #36 (upper right corner) is Lillian Ott. #18, #22, #29, #30, #31, #33 and #36 identified Lillian Ott by handwritten Post-It-Note (notes were removed on July 4, 2018).
