C. 1897 view of Lower Town Harpers Ferry and "The Point" from Maryland Heights. The new Baltimore and Ohio Railroad mainline track and passenger depot (bottom center) were opened just two years earlier, covering the old U. S. Musket Factory grounds with a 20-foot embankment. Also shown: the Market House, old Paymaster's House and the Winchester & Potomac Railroad tracks (center); St. Peter's Catholic Church, St. John's Episcopal Church, and the Harper Cemetery (top center); and Harpers House and Marmion Row (right center).
