Charlestown, Virginia. The Valley of Virginia. Looking towards Harpers Ferry. Copy of one half (left side) of a panoramic sketch of Charlestown done by Alfred R. Waud in March 1862. View is from the grounds of Cassilus. Although difficult to read in this copy, Waud identified a number of buildings including the Court House as well as defensive positions of Union troops stationed in and around Charlestown.
Museum does not have a copy of the right half. The Library of Congress has the full panorama on line.
