Charles Washington Hall. February 1982 copy of a c. 1875 photograph of Charles Washington Hall. The original building was destroyed during the Civil War and rebuilt in situ in 1874. Over the years a number of commercial enterprises occupied the first floor including the post office. The second floor was built as an auditorium and functioned as such until the Opera House was built in 1910. At that time the second floor was converted into office spaces.
