Dynamite truck explosion near Halltown on February 1, 1951. View is of the house occupied by Billy and Charlotte Bates owned by Fonrose Wisner Cosey which was completely destroyed. This was the house closest to the explosion. Billy Bates was killed by the explosion while knocking on the front door of his neighbor, Estelle Cobb, as he attempted to warn her and call for help.
