Star Lodge. In 1791 John Locke bought lot number 9 (northwest corner of Avis and Lawrence Streets) from Charles Washington and built a stone structure there c. 1795. Star Lodge #1, AF & AM, and Queen of the Valley Lodge #1558, Independent Order of the Odd Fellows (IOOF), purchased the building in 1885. The Odd Fellows sold their share of the building to Star Lodge in June 1927. Star Lodge #1 still owns the building.
